I'm sure you're aware of my spiritual reasons. As for the utilitarian aspect, Churches can be a great source of communal support, especially if they espouse traditional morality. If I plan to lead a stable life and have children some day, I will need a support system that is isolated from the decadence of secular society.

Individual churches are what their members make of them. I say let us take the corrupt churches back. We would see a massive reversal on much policy if only right-thinking people would return to their churches and assert power.
I have been toying with this very idea, especially since the
World Youth Day
that took place in Madrid in August. I worked with the pilgrims and I was impressed, even moved by their deeply moral attitude. Thousands of youths from all over europe who were modestly dressed, clean, sober, quiet, and full of vitality. Watching them pray in groups was literally mindblowing. I've been considering taking confession since then.
