Christian East Beirut rocks.
It's the growing Salafism among the Sunni, and Assad's Arab nationalism driving this. Christian Arabs have to downplay the importance of religion and hype their Arabness if they want to remain in favor with the majority of the population.
This would all stop if Hezbollah caved into internal pressure to institute Shariah, which is one reason they don't. But the minute the Shia don't need the Christians as allies against the Sunni, in Lebanon, they will. That's when Secularist Sunnis and Christians will refind their friendship.
No principles or loyalty, just strategy.
